Surprise!

This illustration was my entry for CYA All Stars competition 2022, the theme was "surprise". I played around with the well-loved fable of the tortoise and the hare. The mischievous little girl has hidden her hare inside of a tortoise shell, ready to leap out at the start of the race! I used the brief as a chance to experiment with a new technique I had learnt using gouache style brushes in Procreate - I loved the painterly textures they create.
