What a pleasure it was to stand in front of some very curious and incredibly sweet littlies (Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2 groups) for CBCA Book Week 2026 and talk about just how much fun it is to draw! I truly have the best job in the world. I loved connecting with the kids and being reminded of exactly why I do what I do.
There was lots of HOWL-O-WEEN howling, plenty of fabulous sausage dog drawing and some spectacularly insightful questions! The kids noticed that Halloween begins in daylight in Australia (unlike in many of the Northern Hemisphere books they know!) and they even picked up on the alliteration in Emma’s superb rhyming couplets and we also chatted about the numbering system on Spooky Street. Clever kids!
