"Dinosaur Stomp" Little Hare 2025

These character sketches and double page spreads were created for Hardie Grants Little Hare Illustration Prize 2025. The fabulously fun manuscript was written by award-winning children’s book author Sandhya Parappukkarun. It features a little dinosaur obsessed girl with a big imagination. I really enjoyed thinking outside of the box on this brief, I didn’t want to just show a girl in a dinosaur costume. I wanted to create that sense of wonder in childhood. Recollecting my own imaginative play as a child, I remembered how easy and fun it was to slip into any character by wildly moving my body and making weird noises! I love the process of creating something visually engaging from beautifully inspiring words, seeing what springs up from a white page is sometimes magical! The subject matter combination of kids and dinosaurs is always a winner!
